Summary. The crisis in Honduras has opened profound cracks in the regional political debate, not because it has been converted into a laboratory of ideas but because it is a kind of metaphysical morgue that holds the remains of processes, norms and ideas that were not able to effectively respond to the situation. It was clear that the interference of the international community in internal affairs of the people has its limits –even when in defense of the democratic system– and that the United States has national interests that transcend the supposedly good intentions of President Obama. In this context, the article sustains that Honduras could be a starting point to critically consider Latin America’s regional configuration and the continent’s place in the international structure.
